  • This work presents the design, implementation, and evaluation of a practical online bin packing algorithm called the Variable Item Size Bin Packing(VISBP) which can allocate data center resources dynamically through live VM migration. Compared to the existing algorithm, the VISBP excels in hot spots mitigation and load balance. It also reconciles the demands on both green computing and stability.
