  • In heterogeneous network some of the nodes have more energy than the other nodes, which is the source of heterogeneity. DBCP is a novel energy efficient distance based cluster protocol for heterogeneous network. DBCP suggests a new Cluster head (CH) election mechanism based on the initial energy of nodes and the average distance of the nodes from the sink.

The cluster head selection calculate the weighted factor for each and every node by using the three parameters such as highest degree heuristic(HD), less mobility factor(LMF), and residual energy of remaining in each node. Mobility means the rate of change of position of a mobile node with respect to time. Nodes which travel at high speeds send update packet more frequently.
