  • Backoff mechanism proposes a solution for avoiding the packet collision and to achieve an efficient use of the shared channel in MANET. It is achieved through implementation of Fibonacci Liner Increment Back-Off (FLB) algorithm to achieve an effective value for the Back-off timer of the nodes before accessing the channel to avoid collision.

  • Enhanced FLB algorithm is Fibonacci Linear decrement backoff algorithm (FDB) is contributed. The decrement backoff algorithm is achieved on the bandwidth measurement. If the bandwidth utilization is high (high collision) the waiting time is automatically increased and the backoff interval is linearly decreased.
