  • In this paper, the study considers the problem of asynchronous neighbor discovery in wireless Ad hoc networks where nodes have directional antennas. It analyses the one-way asynchronous neighbor discovery algorithm by introducing the ‘Problem of Coloring Balls’. Then extends it to a hybrid asynchronous neighbor discovery algorithm which has better performance than the one-way and two-way asynchronous algorithms. Finally, a comprehensive performance comparisons between synchronous and asynchronous algorithms are conducted.
