It is a multi-staged process that involves identifying relevant digital evidence, evidence acquisition, evidence examination, evidence analysis, and evidence documenting and reporting.
Digital forensics has gained a great impact in multiple domains, including forensic science, law, ethics, computer science and engineering, information science, among others. Also, it has several challenges for investigators such as complexity problem, diversity problem, consistency and correlation, Quantity or Volume problem, and Unified Time-lining problem. Existing surveys explored an in-depth review of the challenges faced by a digital forensic investigation.
