  • In this project, a realistic workflow scheduling problem with both spot block and on-demand instances are considered. A mathematical model with preemptive and non-preemptive tasks are established according to the two resource renting alternatives. It proposed a new idle time block(ITB) based algorithm and compared it with the adapted JIT algorithm. The proposed ITB algorithm can easily be adapted to other workflow scheduling algorithms.
