PHD Research Proposal in Mobile Edge Computing

Over the past decades, the rapid development of Information Technology (IT) changes every aspect of day-to-day human life. Edge computing paradigm is one of the growing research areas to cope up with the advancements in the daily activities. It targets to move computing to the edge of the networks without sending the data to the centralized environment to reduce the transmission time. Edge computing infrastructure involves the telephone central offices, microdata centers, cloudlets, IoT gateways, and any other environments supporting the computation, storage, and communication resources provisioning near edge devices. To support the execution of more potential productive applications in mobile, Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices has to offer higher bandwidth, improved reliability, and lower latency. Thus, edge computing has become a hot research area. It opens the door to a variety of new applications with potential impact in the domains of manufacturing, healthcare, public safety, transportation, telecommunications, building, healthcare, and energy.
