Blockchain-Enabled Secure Data Sharing on Azure

  • Use Case: Healthcare, finance, and supply chain industries require secure, transparent, and auditable data sharing across multiple stakeholders while ensuring data integrity, compliance, and privacy. Blockchain ensures tamper-proof data exchange without relying on a single trusted authority.

Objective

  • Enable trustless and secure data sharing between multiple organizations.

Ensure data provenance, immutability, and auditability using blockchain.

Maintain compliance with security and regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).

Project Description

  • This project builds a permissioned blockchain network on Azure that allows organizations (hospitals, banks, logistics partners, etc.) to share data securely. Each transaction is validated through consensus mechanisms and stored in an immutable ledger. Azure services are used for identity management, smart contracts, secure storage, and integration with analytics dashboards.
  • Only authorized participants can access data.

Data tampering is prevented through immutable blockchain records.

Smart contracts enforce access policies and SLAs.

Scalability and interoperability with other Azure services (IoT, ML, Databases).
  • Azure Services & Purpose :
    Azure Service Purpose in Project
Azure Confidential Ledger Provides a tamper-proof, immutable ledger for sensitive transactions and records.
Azure Blockchain Service (Consortium Network / Quorum on Azure) Hosts and manages a permissioned blockchain network for secure data sharing.
Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) Identity and access management to ensure only authorized users participate.
Azure Key Vault Secure storage of encryption keys, certificates, and secrets for blockchain transactions.
Azure SQL Database / Cosmos DB Stores off-chain metadata and large datasets linked to blockchain transactions.
Azure Logic Apps / Power Automate Automates workflows triggered by blockchain events (e.g., notifying partners).
Azure Functions Executes smart contract logic or event-driven processes on blockchain events.
Power BI Provides visual analytics and dashboards for monitoring blockchain transactions and shared data usage.
Azure Monitor & Security Center Ensures compliance, monitoring, and threat detection in the blockchain ecosystem.
