Designing Energy and Mobility-Aware Routing for the Mobile Internet of Things Using Cooja Simulator

Energy and Mobility Aware Routing for the Internet of Mobile Things - Cooja Project

Research Area:

IOT

Research Topics:

Contiki Cooja Simulator Projects in RPL Routing Protocol

Tools Languages:  Contiki-Cooja / Contiki NG simulator, Front End: Java, Back End: C

Software Requirement:  Vmware workstation player, Instant Contiki-3.0

Aim and Objectives:
To design a project for energy and mobility-aware routing for the mobile internet of things using the contiki-cooja simulator.

Contribution:
1. This project proposes a new routing protocol considering the mobility of nodes in healthcare applications.
2. The project aims to propose Energy and Mobility Aware RPL (EMA-RPL) consisting of increasing the mobile device lifetime and establishing more robust connectivity by introducing a proactive process to anticipate and predict the nodes- movement.
3. This project investigates the EMA-RPL performance using extensive simulations under the cooja/ContikiOS.

Performance Evalution:
This project evaluates the performance of the method on Contiki-Cooja Simulator, with various numbers of mobile nodes (20 and 40). The random waypoint mobility model is used for the simulations.
Performance Metrics:
 •  PDR
 •  Signaling Cost
 •  Energy Consumption
 •  Throughput
 •  Delay
 •  Control Packet Overhead
 •  Execution Time
 •  CPU Energy Consumption
