RPL-based Multipath Data Delivery Mechanisms for Power Consumption and Time Delay in IoT - Cooja Project

Research Area:

IOT

Research Topic:

Contiki Cooja Simulator Projects in RPL Routing Protocol

Tools and Languages:  Contiki-Cooja / Contiki NG simulator, Front End: Java, Back End: C

Software Requirements:  Vmware workstation player, Instant Contiki-3.0

Aim and Objectives:
This project aims to design a multi-path data distribution mechanism based on RPL for energy consumption and time delay in IoT using the contiki-cooja simulator.

Contributions:
1. This project proposes a kind of energy equalization routing protocol to maximize the surviving time of the restricted nodes so that the energy consumed by each node is close to each other.
2. A multi-path forwarding route is proposed based on cache utilization.
3. It evaluates the performance of the algorithm on the cooja simulator, including the network load distribution, network lifetime, energy consumption, end-to-end delay and other network performance at different network sizes and nodes with different cache sizes.

Performance Evaluation:
This project takes 60 nodes to compare the network load distributions with different buffer sizes in nodes. Data packages are sent every five minutes, and the sink node is at the center of the network.
Performance Metrics:
 •  PDR
 •  Network Lifetime
 •  Energy Consumption
 •  Throughput
 •  Delay
 •  Control Packet Overhead
 •  Execution Time
 •  CPU Energy Consumption
