Research Area:  Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks
Intelligence Transportation System (ITS) is one of the main application in the Internet of Things (IOT). The Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) is promising technology for enabling ITS and it plays the critical role of this technology. In recent years several organization, industries, researchers have focused on various parts of VANET such as standards, routing protocols, security and etc. The objective of this paper is to provide a comprehensive review of fundamentals of this technology and we cover different types of ad hoc networks, VANET standards, application, challenges, information dissemination methods. Then, we survey several multi-hop broadcast routing protocols and compare their features to achieve better understanding of routing and its challenges in VANET.
