Security and privacy are the most significant concern in establishing information sharing among the VANET nodes. The data of VANET users should have to be shared securely to avoid criminal activities during the journey. The authenticated users can only access the information of the other users of VANET. For that, the current research works adopt blockchain concept into VANET, as the blockchain technology has the following characteristics that are decentralization, collective maintenance, redundant storage, and tamper-proof of blocks. It also can support the privacy of VANETs by enhancing the cryptographic mechanisms with the assistance of the bit coin cryptocurrency model. The design of the consensus mechanism is very prominent, as it directly impacts the performance of blockchain technology.
