The VANET dynamicity and wireless link characteristics are susceptible to various security threats. Among the VANET attacks, the Sybil attack is a serious security threat in which the attacker stoles the identity of multiple genuine users and uses multiple identical copies to launch the attack strongly. Detecting the Sybil attack is a challenging task, as the Sybil attackers can the ability to launch various types of attacks in the network. The VANET system employs different cryptography and IDS methods to detect Sybil attacks.
