The RPL routing offers limited security against various routing layer attacks. Moreover, IoT devices are limited in memory and battery resources, limiting the efficiency of existing routing security solutions. Several security schemes for the RPL routing have been proposed, including IDS-based and Trust-based approaches. However, most of the existing trust-based methods do not consider the mobility of nodes. They make decisions based on the trust among nodes.
However, the trust levels among nodes may develop and evolve. Because a malicious node may be consistent in its good behavior in the past, it recently decided to become malicious. It is essential to detect such attacks quickly and isolate them from the network. Moreover, it is essential to reduce the impact of mobility on the time-based trust estimation. Thus, it is prominent to design a security scheme considering the mobility-based trust metrics.
