βββIn order to support reliable and safer VANET communication, different types of routing protocols are employed. However, network complexity, frequent link breakages, heterogeneous devices, and high-speed vehicles hinder the performance of VANET routing protocols. The bio-inspired algorithms optimize the performance of VANET routing by modeling the route searching behavior of VANET routing protocols into bio-inspired food searching methods like ants and bees. The bio-inspired algorithms are mainly classified under three evolutionary categories, swarm intelligence and biologically inspired. The bio-inspired algorithms have strong potential to rectify the issues of VANET dynamism, data transmission complexity, minimum scalability, and robustness.
