The efficacy of the cluster head election process is mainly responsible for resolving the issues of network management that aims at improving the longevity of the sensor network. Most of the energy inspired cluster head election methodologies considers that all the participating sensor nodes as genuine and similarly, the trust-based cluster head selection techniques assumes all the collaborating sensor nodes to be energy competitive. These assumptions utilized in the energy or trustworthy-based cluster head selection is not realistic in nature since the historical or current energy availability of sensor nodes may not aid in determining the optimal cluster head of the network. This paper presents an energy and trust assessment integrated prediction scheme called Hyper-Exponential Reliability Factor-based Cluster Head Election (HRFCHE) through Semi-Markov scheme for improving the lifetime of the network. The results of HRFCHE infers its superior performance by extending the network lifetime and reducing the energy consumptions by 28% and 34% predominant to the cluster head election schemes used for comparison.
