Aim and Objectives:  This project aims to design an RPL cross-layer scheme for IEEE 802.15.4 IoT devices with adjustable transmit power using the Contiki-cooja simulator.

Contribution:  
1. This project extends the RPL parent selection procedure to the multi-level transmit power scenario.
2. This work proposes a cross-layer approach that dynamically adapts the sensor transmit power to reduce energy expenditure in the network without impairing QoS.
3. This project describes the simulation environment created to validate our contribution using Cooja.

Performance Evalution:  This work implemented our cross-layer scheme in Contiki-NG using the Z1 mote and two transmit power levels (55mW and 31mW). Simulations of a network of 15 motes selected the low-power setting in a 25m area.
