Aim and Objectives:  
This project aims to design and perform an analysis of RPL protocol for data-gathering applications in wireless sensor networks using the contiki-cooja simulator.

Contribution:  
1. The main contribution of the project is to select the most optimal path and make the decision to send the gathered data to the sink node.
2. The main goal of this project is to study the performance of the RPL protocol under three different MAC protocols such as ContikiMac, CXMAC, and NullRDC, in terms of end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio and power consumption to find the best behavior of the RPL routing protocol under the MAC protocols effect.

Performance Evalution:  
This project used the Contiki operating system with the COOJA simulator to implement the proposed work. It is developed in C language using a client-server programming model to implement the RPL protocol. It is used UDP protocol to implement server and clients, in which the server is represented the sink node while the clients represent the distributed 50 sensor nodes in the network environment.
