A Mathematical Framework for Effective Routing Over Low power and Lossy Networks - Cooja Project

Research Area:

IOT

Research Topics:

Contiki Cooja Simulator Projects in RPL Routing Protocol

Tools Languages:  Contiki-Cooja / Contiki NG simulator, Front End: Java, Back End: C

Software Requirement:  Vmware workstation player, Instant Contiki-3.0

Aim and Objectives:
To develop an analytical framework for effective routing over low-power and lossy networks in IoT using the Contiki-cooja simulator.

Contribution:
1. This project developed an analytical framework that captures the different routing aspects in low-power and lossy networks and includes heterogeneous indicators that capture important aspects, such as power consumption, duty cycle, communicated packets, and hop count.
2. Analyzing RPL deployments and MRHOF, OF0 objective functions are targeted.
3. Propose a systematic process for evaluating RPL deployments in terms of their effectiveness.

Performance Evalution:
RPL deployment scenarios are analyzed to enable thorough evaluations using the Contiki-cooja simulator. The simulations use fixed-grid and random topologies, with 25, 49, and 81 sender nodes, including one sink node. Each topology is tested at 11, 20, and 50 m transmission range.
