PhD Research Guidance in Fog Computing
In recent years, the rapid proliferation of performing the distributed computing demands the need for a decentralized computing structure, especially for latency-sensitive applications such as the Internet of Things (IoT) applications. With the rise of IoT applications, handling the real-time processing of a vast amount of data generated from heterogeneous wireless IoT devices is critical. To overcome this constraint, Cloud computing technology has been applied over the past decades due to its on-demand access and high cost-efficiency. Although, with the rapid development of IoT applications, centralized Cloud computing technology encounters high latency constraints. To deal with the delay-sensitive IoT applications in a Cloud environment, Fog computing extends cloud computing to the edge of the network in which data and applications are located between the data source and the cloud. Fog computing is also termed as ‘fog networking’ and ‘fogging’. The emergence of Fog computing technology has been widely used in different fields, including manufacturing, smart buildings, and healthcare.
