Seizures are the primary symptom of epilepsy, which is one of the most common neurological disorders. Studies suggest that 10% of the world-s epileptic patients are in Pakistan where there is one neurologist for 1,400, 000 people. The percentages of epileptic population in Pakistan are significantly higher in the rural areas, where the disease is linked to the paranormal. The patient suffer from severe social pressures and lack of proper medical treatment. EEG is the most cost effective and convenient method for seizure detection. With the dawn of data-analytics, many studies focusing on seizure detection have been conducted. The aim has been to not only aid the human diagnosis, but also, to explore new avenues in explaining the underlying causes of seizures and epilepsy. This study summarizes the data-analytic methods that have been used for the analysis of seizures with a special emphasis on the state of the art. It is aimed as a guide to researchers who wish to investigate this amazing application of Neuro-informatics.
