Great Research Papers in Geographic Routing Protocols for Flying Ad Hoc Networks

Research in geographic routing protocols for Flying Ad Hoc Networks (FANETs) focuses on leveraging the positional information of UAVs to achieve efficient, reliable, and low-latency communication in highly dynamic aerial environments. Recent studies propose position-based and mobility-prediction–enhanced routing schemes that use GPS or localization data to make forwarding decisions without relying on global topology knowledge. These protocols aim to minimize control overhead, reduce packet loss, and maintain robust connectivity under rapid UAV movement. Machine learning and swarm intelligence techniques are increasingly integrated to predict node trajectories and optimize next-hop selection. Energy-aware and security-augmented geographic routing mechanisms are also being developed to extend network lifetime and resist spoofing or interception attacks. Collectively, these advancements enable scalable, adaptive, and high-performance communication in next-generation FANET deployments.
