Clustering is a method of grouping vehicles based on criteria like speed, direction, and vehicle type. The clustering models improve the wireless communication link stability and also maximize the performance efficiency of VANET routing protocols. Additionally, they can serve as the safety message dissemination and entertainment applications to the group of users simultaneously. Designing a clustering model over a dynamic VANET environment is a challenging task. Cluster formation, cluster head selection, and cluster maintenance are the primary strategies of VANET clustering. The VANET clustering is used for routing, resource management, resource allocation, security, quality of service assurance, traffic safety, and topology discovery.
