Currently, software-defined networking into VANET permits coordinated information exchange between the VANET users and ensures adaptive communication. By separating the data and control planes, the SDN effectively handles the entire communication performance throughout the VANET system. However, the technological breakthrough of VANET with hybrid network architecture poses various security concerns. The SDN also easily solves the VANET security issues by simplifying the vehicle behavior of the entire VANET. The SDN with self-organized maps effectively solves the VANET security issues by analyzing the novel traffic with pre-trained data. The SDN-based VANET models increase the flexibility and security of the VANET system.
