Log based privacy preservation in cloud forensic

Research paper on Log based privacy preservation in cloud forensic

Research Area:  Digital Forensics

Abstract:

Cloud computing platform has become sovereign in a computing paradigm in recent years. However, today-s cloud computing models usually lack support for cloud forensic examination. A primary responsibility of cloud forensics is to determine the existence of a specific log files in available system. Log file contains highly sensitive information. So it is essential for many institutes to safeguard integrity, security and privacy of their critical log files. It is challenging to accomplish this in cloud which is having dynamic nature. In our proposed design, we have introduced notion of constructing a proofs of previously procured data with respect to cloud storage. Our work confirms the truth of obtaining proof from recently possessed data that can be used effectively in cloud forensics. The integrity of the logs is ensured by hash chain scheme and proofs of past logs published by the cloud provider. Our design contains Bloomfilter based R-tree (BR-tree) accumulator schemes to build the proofs of past logs. This BR-tree accumulator scheme integrates Bloom-filters into R-tree nodes. Undoubtedly cloud world is getting exponential demand in a market today. Usage of our forensic based proposed architecture would definitely minimize complexity of post attack investigation process.
