Recent research in broadcast communication for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) focuses on improving message dissemination efficiency, reliability, and scalability in highly dynamic vehicular environments. Traditional flooding techniques often lead to broadcast storms, packet collisions, and network congestion, so modern studies propose adaptive probabilistic broadcasting, cluster-based dissemination, and fuzzy logic–driven relay selection to mitigate redundancy and delay. Researchers are also exploring context-aware and density-based broadcast protocols that adjust transmission rates according to vehicle density and mobility patterns to ensure timely delivery of safety messages. Integration with edge computing and artificial intelligence further enhances real-time decision-making, enabling efficient message propagation and reducing latency in emergency and infotainment applications.
