Research Area:  Digital Forensics
The objective of this paper is to provide deeper insight into the current state of the art of Digital Forensics (DF) for the Internet of Things (IoT). This paper furthermore aims to provide researchers with topics for future research, predict future trends in DF of IoT and ensure the advancement of research with regards to DF of IoT. This paper makes use of a thorough systematic literature review to identify topics that currently form part of the body of knowledge, such as the IoT, mobile devices (MD), DF, DF of IoT, legal implications and proceedings that involve the IoT, DF processes or standards, and finally, digital forensic readiness (DFR). The paper then evaluates the available papers to determine gaps in current research. All findings are presented in tabular form, followed by a discussion of suggestions and predictions of future trends.
