The Internet of Multimedia Things (IoMT) is an emerging research area that extends the Internet of Things by enabling intelligent acquisition, processing, and transmission of multimedia data such as audio, video, and images across interconnected devices and networks. Research papers in this domain focus on multimedia sensing, content-aware networking, real-time data analytics, and quality of service (QoS) optimization for applications such as smart surveillance, immersive media, healthcare monitoring, and intelligent transportation systems. Key contributions include edge/fog-assisted multimedia processing, AI and deep learning-based content analysis, compression and resource allocation techniques, and secure, privacy-preserving multimedia data sharing. Recent studies also address challenges such as high bandwidth demands, latency, energy efficiency, heterogeneous device interoperability, and multimedia-specific security threats. By combining IoT connectivity with intelligent multimedia analytics, research in IoMT aims to create adaptive, real-time, and efficient multimedia-enabled ecosystems for next-generation smart applications.
